Please note this is for the first fix only (chassis) and is usually installed during the construction of the house and is ideal in preventing theft or protecting the ventilation unit from contaminants on the building site.

It allows for the builders to install all the ducting to the ventilation unit etc before actually fitting the (second fix) fan unit.

This would also compromise of the second fix which is the fan assembly and would be installed after the building work has been completed.

The first fix and second fix are terms used in the UK and Irish housebuilding and commercial building construction industry.

First fix comprises all the work needed to take a building from foundation to putting plaster on the internal walls. This includes constructing walls, floors and ceilings, and inserting cables for electrical supply, MVHR/MEV ventilation runs and pipes for water supply.
